Intern Sector Agrifood

Start date: mid-August or 1 September 2026

At Invest International, we invest in Dutch agrifood companies that contribute to a more sustainable and resilient global food system. Through our financing and sector expertise, we help accelerate the transition to more responsible, future-proof ways of producing food. Areas such as Agrifood Technology, Controlled Environment Agriculture and Alternative Proteins are examples of fields in which Dutch companies are globally recognised and can play an important role in making sustainable food production accessible to a growing world population.

The agriculture and food sectors also create employment and economic opportunities in developing countries, contributing to stronger local economies and improved livelihoods. With the financing instruments of Invest International, Dutch innovation and technology can reach international markets and support sustainable development on a global scale.

We support companies whose investments strengthen both global food system resilience and the long-term earning capacity of the Netherlands.

To help deliver our Agrifood strategy, we are looking for an ambitious intern who wants to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of agrifood, strategy and international finance, while contributing to work that matters for current and future generations.

Role and responsibilities

As an intern, you will work at the intersection of agrifood, finance and strategy, contributing to projects that combine commercial relevance with positive impact.

You will support the team with:

  • Identifying and assessing Dutch companies with international growth potential and a strong contribution to sustainable food production.
  • Supporting the exploration of investment opportunities across debt and equity, including initial screening, research and investment analysis.
  • Preparing meeting materials, briefings and presentations for clients, partners and internal decision-making processes.
  • Contributing to ongoing agrifood transactions and business development activities, with exposure to real investment and commercial processes.
  • Mapping relevant stakeholders, partnerships and market opportunities within the agrifood ecosystem to support strategy development and origination.
  • Supporting the preparation of agrifood events, conferences and external engagements that help expand Invest International’s network and sector visibility.

You are someone who:

  • Is currently pursuing an MSc degree in the Netherlands, preferably in finance, agrifood, economics or business.
  • Has a strong interest in agrifood, sustainable finance, investing and international business, and is motivated to contribute to positive impact.
  • Has strong writing and analytical skills in English; speaking Dutch is an advantage.
  • Communicates confidently and professionally with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
  • Brings a proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity and the drive to take ownership of work and learn quickly.
  • Is comfortable working with Microsoft Office and interested in using digital and AI tools in a smart and productive way.
  • Is available for a full-time internship of four to six months.
  • Is currently living in the Netherlands.
  • Is excited to work in a dynamic environment where you can develop quickly, contribute meaningfully and help advance impactful work in agrifood.

Please note that interns need to be registered as a student for the entire length of the internship.
