Intern - Business Risk & Monitoring

Role Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Business Risk & Monitoring Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to core banking operations, basic KYC & compliance tasks, and regulatory processes within a fast-paced financial environment.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Assist in executing first line of defence controls, including client onboarding, document review, and data quality checks
• Support document vetting processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Participate in client communications related to onboarding queries, clarifications, and escalations
• Coordinate and escalate issues to internal stakeholders as appropriate
• Provide general administrative and operational support to the BCRM Team
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the BCRM Team

Required knowledge, skills, and experience

• A good level of communication in Maltese and English
• Good knowledge of IT tools
• Strong organization, planning and prioritizing skills to execute the planned controls
• Excellent eye for detail with heavy focus on accuracy and delivery
• Excellent reactive capacities and problem-solving capacities
• Capability to work autonomously and independently, but also have the awareness of when to consult Manager or Senior Manager

The MeDirect Internship Programme

• Open to students in the final or penultimate year of a Bachelor’s degree course
• Paid 3 or 6 month programmes available
• Students will be assigned to a particular project and are expected to present their learning at the end of the programme
• Ongoing mentoring throughout
• Minimum commitment of 25 hours per week
• Possible promotion to the Graduate programme or offer of a full-time position
