Every year we recruit hundreds of people at the start of their careers to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

The team you would join

Employer Branding decides how people first meet Arup. We are a small global team spanning the UK, the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe. You would work directly with the person who leads our work across Europe's nine markets, based in Madrid, in English.

Everything we publish is measured against one test: could a competitor publish this unchanged? If it could, we cut it. That test is the reason this internship exists. We are rebuilding how Arup presents careers online, a global effort that starts with nine European markets. Rebuilding it properly takes more hands than we currently have.

The Opportunity

Most marketing internships promise real work, then hand over a deck nobody reads. This one is attached to a single project with a budget, a deadline and an audience: the rebuild of Arup's careers experience, delivered first across nine European markets and built to a global standard.

You will work on pages that go live in public, on copy that carries a firm's reputation, and on the unglamorous checks that decide whether any of it actually gets found. You will sit in the project meetings, including the awkward ones. You will leave with published work you can show people.

As an Employer Branding & Talent Attraction Intern at Arup, you will:

• Source and shape the member stories behind the new careers pages: talk to engineers, designers and consultants across our markets, feeding a global content model, and turn what they say into copy that survives editing.
• Audit our existing careers content against the new site structure and tell us plainly what works, what is filler, and what should not survive the move.
• Draft and test copy for the sector pages (energy, transport, water, property, digital) with the Employer Branding Lead for Europe.
• Run the checks that decide whether the site is usable and findable: accessibility against WCAG 2.2 AA, page metadata, alt text, link tracking.
• Keep the project honest: action logs, chasing contributors, tracking what was promised against what arrived. Some of this is admin. We would rather you knew that now than in week three.

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone who can write. Not someone who would like to learn to write eventually; someone who can write now, in English, clearly, with a point of view. Most of the rest we can teach.

• Writing that stands up without adjectives. We will ask for a short writing sample and we will read it before we read anything else on your CV.
• Currently studying, or recently graduated, in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
• Fluent written and spoken English. A second language is useful; Spanish is not required.
• Comfortable asking senior people for things, and following up when they do not reply. A real part of this job is that.
• Curiosity about how people actually find and choose jobs online. Experience with a CMS, analytics or SEO is welcome, not expected.
