About The Role

We now run more than 30 tenants, each one with multiple databases, each database handling 10M+ rows (up to 100M+ soon on some tenants). In order for all our features to run smoothly for our customers, we need continuous monitoring and optimization of these dbs over different access patterns (intense ETL loads, complex analytical operations, normal transactional access).

As a database optimisation intern, you’ll continuously improve our alerting system (reducing false alerts to improve the system precision) as well as address any real issue by investigating the root cause, suggesting, negotiating and implementing improvements to the underlying operations.

What You'll Do

• Optimize database queries using industry standard best practices
• Design and implement alerts within our alerting environment to catch flaws and disruptions
• Design, implement, and upkeep runbooks for alert management
• Contribute to our in-house data generation solution for internal dev testing

Required

About You

• Knowledge in Python, and PostgreSQL (or any other alternative in SQL)
• Knowledge of industry standard database practices — Effective joins and query optimization for example
• You actively embrace AI tools as part of how you work — curious about what’s possible and quick to adopt new ways of working smarter and faster.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted workflows — whether for writing, research, analysis, coding, or productivity — and a genuine interest in staying at the frontier of what these tools can do.

Nice to have

• Knowledge in Rust and/or Kotlin
• Experience with Gitlab CI workflows
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheurs and Grafana
